Reducing cross-infection between patients in healthcare facilities
With studies suggesting over 93 contact episodes per hour between patients, staff and visitors, Vernacare continue to educate on the particular importance of best practice in personal hygiene for a reduction in cross-infection.
“Our aim is to eliminate reusable washbowls across healthcare facilities. With alternative single-use and disposable patient bathing options readily available, we at Vernacare have a responsibility to educate the markets we serve, and minimize the infection risk” Rachel Downham – Global Category Director
Donating single-use disposable bed bath wipes to reduce the transmission of COVID-19
Research published by the American Journal of Infection Control suggest that 62.2% of reusable plastic hospital washbowls remain contaminated with pathogens after cleaning, presenting a significant risk for the transmission of COVID-19.
The World Health Organization have advised healthcare facilities to adopt single-use and disposable products to help control the spread of infection. To help support a reduction in transmission, Vernacare have donated 13000 packs of Oasis bed bathing wipes to several markets severely hit by COVID-19.
Oasis bed bathing wipes present a disposable, waterless bathing solution for patients suffering from COVID-19 and too ill to leave their bed. The use of a waterless bathing solution, eliminates the infection risks associated with traditional reusable washbowl practice.
Following one of the worst outbreaks across Europe, Medival S.r.l. transported Oasis donations to intensive care units across the north and south of the country.
Vernacare have been passionate about infection prevention for over 50 years and will continue to support international countries throughout the global crisis.
