Vernacare CEO leaves the company

Following 2 years with the company, James Steele has left the position of CEO at Verna Group International Limited (parent company of Vernacare) with immediate effect and by mutual agreement with the Board.

During his tenure as Chief Executive, Vernacare have grown into a global supplier of a range of infection prevention focussed surgical and non-surgical medical products.

During this period, the business maintained supply of critical products to healthcare systems during a global pandemic and successfully completed the acquisitions of Frontier Plastics Ltd and Robinsons Healthcare Ltd.

Vernacare Chairman Frank Collins said, “On behalf of the Board of Directors, I extend our thanks and appreciation to James for his contribution to our business. During his time with the company, various commercial and operational initiatives were acheived – including the recent launch of the sustainable 5th Generation of our Sharpsafe range of products.

“We are excited for the next phase of Vernacare’s development and look forward to working with our customers and suppliers to create an even stronger and more sustainable medical supply chain to continually improve patient care, while reducing the impact of healthcare on our planet.” 

To assist in navigating the appointment of a new CEO, Barry McBride will be joining the company as a Board Adviser. Barry joins with over 30 years of experience in the medical devices space and is uniquely well-placed to offer the Board guidance during the selection process. 

Vernacare Chief Financial Officer, Nicola Boulton and Chief Operating Officer, Richard Hall will continue to provide senior leadership.
